I’ve been there.

Books piled up in a stack beside you. Nodding off to the glow of the computer screen. Neon strips of highlighter scraped across your forehead, leftover not from a raging highlighter party the night before but rather the all-nighter spent spooning Shakespeare term papers and mind-rattling interpretations of Samuel Beckett’s best works.

Some of you are halfway. Knees sunk deep in the muds of history power points and audio projects. Stammering in the mirror before you give that final speech in class tomorrow. Still muddling through the differences between el and usted. Nosotros & Vosotros.

Some of you are stocking up on caffeine fixes and 5-Hour Energy drinks before the storm hits. A storm of finals worth 60% of your grade. 12-pagers that will have you crawling into the light of the morning, turning your study guide into a white flag to wave and surrender.

You’ll make it.

I know it. I can promise that there are holiday lights at the end of your tunnel. Perhaps it won’t be the grace of a love letter but the grace you’ll gain from the sound of the last book shutting. The sound of the last pages shuffling out from the printer and into your professor’s mailbox.

Remember to breathe. To eat. To sleep, if you can. Curl up on the couch in the campus center if that’s what it takes. Listen to the Nutcracker while you sip a gingerbread latte that you so deserve. And, on the nights where 1am comes quicker than shoppers to Best Buy on Black Friday, be the one to text your friends, “Diner. 2am. I’ll drive.”

I still keep that memory.

Unearth it as I do the ornaments that get pulled down from the attic this time of year. Uncrumpling the newspaper surrounding that time that I didn’t know I’d ever miss. A stack of pancakes. An open laptop. Hot chocolate with whipped cream dribbling from the side. All of us laughing, not knowing at the time that yes, yes, we were going to miss it one day soon.

It’s hard to believe right now as you struggle to swallow every prefix in the dictionary or every literary term you’ll need to dissect that Emily D. poem tomorrow. But the closeness of friends in one place, the justified seeing of the sun coming up before you close a book and allow in the hired sugarplums to dance as you pass out, the 24/7 sweatpants apparel for at least two weeks… you’ll miss it when it is gone.

So pick your chin up from the computer. Stand up and stretch. Take a break to call your friend and see how studying is going. If there is someone beside you, smile… propose a coffee break… treat them.

String up holiday lights in your dorm room lounge and claim that a study executed at 800 universities across the country proved that the ambiance of the teeny tiny bulbs increased final grades by a whopping 73% percent.

Ball up in a blanket and quote Elf from time to time when the room gets too quiet. A few go-to quotes: “Santa?! I know him!” “Bye Buddy, hope you find your dad…” “First we’ll make snow angels for a two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.” Take a Target break. Buy some holiday slippers for no good reason. Drive home the long way and just admire the lights for a moment or two.

Remember: It is a book. It is a test. It is a paper. That’s it. That’s all.

You’ll make it. Myself, this love letter, and anyone who has ever been there before…we are pulling for you.

Back to School

Duh...of course this entry is about back to school, what else would it be about... haha

Well it was a long day, will take some getting used to BUT
there are definitely some pluses

a) I can only have a max of 2 registrar sched'd finals INSANE this has never happened to me
b) my fine arts class is so ballin' and the prof is amazing
c) im actually interested in my computer class..cause im a nerd and want to impress my genius - computer inclined - brother
d) my geo class is cool cause i basically have two pro tutors (father and boyfriend)
e) my only two long days are mon/wed and tues/thurs/fri are like not even 2 hours long.
f) im graduating this year!

im looking on the bright side =)

Great Weekend

Worked on Friday, some poopy people didnt tip me very much but always lots of fun with the girls at Calabro

Saturday went to robskis and attempted to do hw (failed) then ate lots of delish food and hung out instead, it was AWESOME. She's a pro baker and made these whipped shortbread cookies. SO GOOD...i ate quite a few haha.

Then Sat night went to Juliets with ty and his friends to watch the fights (yipee lol...) then went out for some delish dessert at Earls. I was so tired though so just went home and pretty much straight to be, ty came over for a bit though.

Sunday breaky with ty, robski, ben and his sis Bre! We tried to got to Cora's but it was packed so we went to Cheesecake cafe instead and had there brunch which was really good! Then hung out and didnt do hw it was AWESOME haha

Love me some procrastination. this is about the last week I can afford to, then back to the grind for finals =(

what a weeeek!

WOWW what a weeek!
Crazy school work, had like 2 labs due and two huge midterms. It was intense
I really hope I do okay on everything, one of the midterms was worth 50%!!!
So gayy, the whole course if 50% midterm and 50% final, what a lazy ass
teacherrr!

I also had to miss the WB screening of HEREAFTERR, with Matt Damon =(
poooop!!!!

School is taking all of my time, and I have no time for everything else I wanna be doing, like working out, playing guitarr, writing music. This biggest detriment is not seeing ty enough =(

Thinking and praying for Hayden Bell! hmmm what else.... Ive recently obtained a reoccuring obsession with Disney moviesss, i bought Beauty and the Beast and it was just amazinggg so good!
I just wanna watch all of themmm!
I wish they didnt come out of the vault for only a short portion of timeee! Like I went to buy Lion King the other day and they didnt have it =( i think its back in the vault =(

OMG alsoooooo the TSWIZZLEEE CD comes out OCTOBER 25
soooooooooooo excited
her 4 singles that have been released are AMAZINGG
cant wait to get the album and learn all the songs on guitar!

OH anddd sex and the city 2 comes out on DVD October 26th!!!

wow. oh wowwww. It has been so long my friend. Ive lost count. I have known you for at least 15 years. I still remember being so sad when you moved away in grade 2. I was losing my best friend and easily accessible neighbor hahaha. We were inseparable. Playing Polly Pockets together, eating mac and cheese, playing house, having bday parties (where you sat nicely on a balloon while all the other children viciously pounced on it to pop it). We were apart for many years and I can not tell you how happy I am we have rekindled our friendship. Its like those years apart never happened. I know I can tell you anything, or ask you anything and we will always share good stories and endless laughs. I am convinced if we lived together I would have a six pack. hahaha. Love you girl. This past summer working with you was just a freaking blast and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Tearing up the dance floor with you at the club is the best fricken time ever. God we are so gooooood! I just love it. And then when we are signing some graphsss i feel on top of the world. We share so many amazing insiders hahaha i just love it. Is that some sort of sick joke? Went pretty good, mostly cause I only had 1 of 2 labs I was suppose to have.

Last night me and a bunch of friends went to see the town

I really really liked it. It was pretty intense and I thought really well done
Ben Affleck did a great job, and I really cant picture anyone else doing that
part, especially since hes from Boston and near that area and everything.
I think you should definitely either go to this movie or rent it.
I think its one that probably be better in the theaters though because there are
lots of action scences, guns etc!
This is a good "take your boyfriend" movie, because he wont complain =)
p.s. i dont know why the font is so big, i tried changing it and it wont let me lol

- CARLIE - cars bday last nighttt was rocking. always a great time dancing the night away at the bar with drb. cant wait to see those sweaty ass pictures. ew haha
- TY - going fantastic. hes starting field school though and then going climbing in squamish, BC for the end of the summer =( super depressingggggg
- SCHOOL - eff come as slow as possible
- WORK - tiring. but love having the dough rolling in.

Im gonna keep this short and sweet cause im exhausted from workkkkkk.
Work is great but tiring. I might be taking on a few serving shifts at a small italian restaurant if i can handle it. and im PERFORMING on sunday, the day is so close. and im nervous
but excited. but really nervous haha. and if he doesnt come. ill be crushed.

Rihannaaaa

Went to the Rihanna concert last night and was very impressed.
She truly put on an amazing show and is not studio done I can tell you
That girl was hitting some serious notes.
She sang tons of stuff off her old albums
(as well as covering all the stuff off rated R) which I LOVED
especially "hate that i love you".
Oh man just made me tear up a bit.
This girl is fierce.
100% legit and amazingly talented
not to mention freaking gorgeous
I love her crazy out of this world outfits because
they make her unique.
Very impressive show. Well worth the 25 dollars to sit in the nosebleeds hahaha
=)

Weekend Update

Hey Thereee
Hope everyones Canada Day Long Weekend was awesomee!
I went to a friends party on thursday which was very funnnnn and then
went on an Edmonton Road trip with three girl friend to go visit some friends out
there who go to U of A and are taking summer courses!!!
It was tiring but SOOO funwowowow.
We went to Julio Barrios friday night when we got there, then got free no line no cover
tickets to a bar on Whyte Ave so we just went there.
Only to find out it was practically empty so we just didnt
buy any drinks and danced all together for like an hour hahaha it was suprisingly
very fun! Then headed home for sleeeeps
Then the next day we went to West Edmonton Mall (obvy) and did some
serious shopping!!
I got two dresses, a boyfriend cardi, two necklaces, two sets of earings,
a strapless top and some lulu shorts for work. Big Success.
Then we really went out saturday night to Oil City Roadhouse.
SOOOOO FUN HOLY

Stampede Talent Search Yeeeeehaw

Lets start out by saying I am very nervous....
This is probably the biggest thing I have ever auditioned for, and sure I have performed in front of thousands of people, but not in a while.
I hope the vocal chords pull through for me.

Basically this is how it works (I think): - audition with like ~1000 other people - a few get chosen to actually perform at the stampede - if you win you could potentially get roles in the Stampede Grandstand show or other performances, money etc

NOW COMES THE HARD PART - song choicee!!!! very key, very important part of the process, could make or break me....hmmmmm. Definitely going to be country =) Have always done well with Shania, but thennnnn theres taylor, lady a, gretchen, miranda...oh myyyy

Probably will stick with Shania (duh), but what songgg to choooooose?
- Man I feel like a Woman (performed for grade 6 talent show haha)
- Dont be Stupid - always a gooder
- That dont impress me much or her other 1000 amazing hits
